What is AlphaEcho?

The name comes from the phonetic alphabet, with Alpha and Echo being the letters AE (the initials of my first and surnames). So not only does AlphaEcho represent me as an individual, but also represents the ideas and products that I would like to make available to the communities that I'm a part of.

Utlimately, AlphaEcho is a small web-store, run by me, to showcase ideas and products that I have created. I hope you find something you like!

So... The KRKR.?

The KRKR. was a project that started in early/mid 2020 as a way of learning 3D modelling and was a solution to a common problem that I found newer members of the mechanical keyboard community were experiencing as well as myself; a distinct lack of affordable switch-openers available within the UK.

I have created the 3D model from the ground up, using freely available and open-source tools. Once I was happy with the design, the prototype was produced and tested and amendments were made to the model before another physical version was created. After around 7 iterations, the final version is what you see available today; V 1.0.

And why name it the KRKR.? Well, if you pronounce it as you see it, it sounds like "cracker". To be honest, I don't know. Maybe a long day, a few beers later and the need to have a name is the reason why. I liked it and the name kinda stuck.

Is the KRKR. a group-buy item?

Nope! The KRKR is an in-stock only item and can be shipped straight away.

No paying up front, waiting for production and then receiving your item months later; you buy the item on the site, and it is shipped the next business day. I do have a limited amount in stock due to costs so they may sell out from time to time, but it's not long until another production order comes in.

So no group-buys at all?

I believe a shop should be able to provide items that they have in stock, within a reasonable timescale to the customer. Group-buys tend to have a long wait time between ordering and receiving, and I do not have the ability to collate large orders nor have the desire to become a vendor for other manufacturers products. I have massive respect for those who deal with group-buys and have taken part in many, but this is not something that AlphaEcho will be involved in right now.

Do you have any plans for future products?

Yes! I have a list of things that I'd like to get started on but I want to see how the first products go. I will release information on them as they get closer to production.

Why is PayPal the only form of payment?

I have used PayPal for years and it is known to be one of the best payment providers around the world. It gives me full visibility of orders, and gives you the ability to place them without having to enter your contact or delivery information over and over again.

Peace of mind for you and me; the best of both worlds!

What are your shipping methods?

AlphaEcho items are shipped within the UK via Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class parcels. I will not use other postal services within the UK due to previous experiences (either due to bad service or more costly to the customer).

European shipping is also provided, via Royal Mail International. Again, this is the only option that I will currently use for international delivery at this time.
